Can a nail studio charge a no-show fee?
Yes, a Dutch nail studio may charge a no-show fee provided the policy is clearly shown upfront, under Dutch contract law. Dutch law sets no fixed percentage: article 6:237(i) of the Civil Code allows reasonable compensation for loss suffered or profit forgone, and the consumer authority ACM states that the amount must be reasonable. In our own sample of 28 Dutch salons, 15 of the 22 that state an amount charge the full price for a no-show, and that is the hardest to defend in a dispute.
